ART PHOTOS TO INSPIRE YOUR VISIT TO MIAMI’S WYNWOOD WALLS

April 23, 2018

Wynwood overflows with vibrant artwork, restaurants, breweries, clothing stores, dance and club venues. Because it used to be an industrial district, the area is highlighted by colorful murals that cover the walls of many of the buildings.

Wynwood has two major sub-districts, the Wynwood Art District in northern Wynwood, and the Wynwood Fashion District along West 5th Avenue. All are covered top to bottom with amazing street art, quotes, stamps and signatures, and drawings.  This place is big and every time I come here I discover new gems ....

Some of the most famous street artists can be found in Wynwood : AIKO, AVAF, CRASH, FAFI, CRYPTIK,  INTI,  as well as so many more amazing artists.

Art and fashion are huge in Wynwood, since it has a large fashion and textiles industry which can be found primarily along NW 5th Avenue in the Wynwood Fashion District. Here you can find all kinds of brightly colored dresses, shoes, and clothes that match the bright and vibrate atmosphere of Wynwood.

If you look close enough you can see the history of Wynwood in the art, being an industrial village it was full of the working class men and women. For a long time it was called "Little San Juan", or known as "El Barrio" since many Puerto Ricans began immigrating to this neighborhood from the islands and northeastern cities in the 1950s.

Midtown Miami started developing in 2005 between North 29th and 36th Street and Miami Avenue and the Florida East Coast Railway (FEC). Because of all this new attention, it also brought popularity back to previously abandoned warehouses that are now occupied by artists, restaurants, cafés, and lounges.

Tony Goldman, a developer, played a major role in the growth of art in Wynwood by creating a mecca out of the already present graffiti. 30 artists traveled from around the world to create what is now the Wynwood Walls, this was the stepping stone for the art that has now grown to be all over Wynwood district.

Amazing  ‘Free Lolita’ mural after the Seaquarium Orca was created by Clandestinos—a husband and wife team with the wild pseudonyms Shalak Attack and Bruno Smoky.

Wynwood is a great place for amazing photo opportunities!

Location wise; it is north of Downtown Miami and Overtown, and adjacent to Edgewater. The Wynwood Art District is one of the most popular sites to visit in the heart of Miami, Florida.  People from everywhere in the world come here to see art, to take amazing pictures in front of the colored walls, shop and have a great time.

A must visit spot  if you go to Miami!
